Karen's Diner

Having wild success over east, Karen’s Diner have recently opened up their first Perth venue in Subiaco, and Canford were engaged to assist with the liquor licensing process.  The application was for a restaurant liquor licence and extended trading permit (liquor without a meal).

The path to a conditional grant of their liquor licence application was fairly straightforward, and did not encounter many speed bumps. We were able to work quickly with the client to compile their application and lodge with the Licensing Authority.

The issues that began to arise were around building and fit-out compliance.

Canford provided assistance in finding solutions to these issues where it was necessary. What became the biggest blockade – as it often can be the case for many restaurant / on-premise liquor licence applications – is obtaining the Section 39 Health Certificate.

Thankfully, through a number of discussions and inspections with the local Council, we were able to assist in the eventual issuing of this health certificate.

Ultimately, while there were unexpected delays in the eventual opening of Karen’s Diner – it’s safe to say the premises finally opening its doors a couple weeks ago was met with a warm welcome. It’s becoming wildly popular very quickly, so make sure you book a table!

Thank you to Aden, Corey, Demi & the Karen’s team for the opportunity.
