4 Mates Burgers - Bassendean
Canford were engaged by 4 Mates Burgers to assist with a Small Bar Licence for their new Bassendean location. Having already had success in Mount Hawthorn, the group have will take up residence in the Hawaiian Bassendean shopping centre.
Canford assisted with both the liquor licence and council/building approvals. We helped the client submit their application in line with their tight timeline, and were able to get their liquor licence approval ahead of their proposed schedule.
The one road bump that came up in submitting the application was ensuring the correct approved Council land use. At the time, the Town of Bassendean did not recognise ‘Small Bar’ as a land use within their Town Planning Scheme. This had the potential to cause a problem as the land use has to be consistent to the satisfaction of the Licensing Authority in order to obtain the correct licence.
Canford worked quickly to lodge a change of use application and the appropriate submissions for Council to consider adding in the new land use and approving it for 4 Mates. We got the change of use application was approved and the small bar liquor licence approval followed soon after.
