The Foodie Precincts of Perth

Perth has no shortage of what’s available to eat and drink. While we’re spread far and wide as a city, a food and beverage precinct is never too far away from you. Below is a few of our favourite places to venture to for a meal, when you haven’t quite decided on what you feel like eating just yet.

While there are the well established Fremantle food strips, and the ever popular Northbridge, we’re picking our absolute favourites.

Established and Going Strong – Leederville

There is an abundance of popular places throughout Leederville (think Pinchos Bar De Tapas, Besk, Pappagallo). Though our favourite spot in Leederville has to be the revamped Leederville Precinct. The Leederville Precinct has become the dynamic heart of Perth’s inner north-west. With iconic venues such as The Garden and The Leederville Hotel joining forces with newer venues such as Servo, Yalla Bala, and The Red Room, the precinct has become an all rounder. Whether you’re looking for a pint, a pizza, or a place to party, the Leederville Precinct has you covered.

The ever popular Oxford Street affords such a large array of fantastic venues with phenomenal food and beverage offerings. Venues such as Powell’s Fromagerie & Wine Bar, Naber, and Robert’s on Oxford also come to mind when thinking of Leederville’s best venues.

Making a Comeback – Subiaco

Subiaco has spent the past few years building back its buzz. In the 1990’s and early 2000’s Subiaco was known for its vibrant nightlife. Though the areas popularity declined, Subiaco is finally making its comeback. With amazing venues such as Found., Bar Amelie, and Bark opening their doors, Subi’s past vibrancy is returning.

Our favourite new venue however would have to be Lums Wine Bar. Though they advertise themselves as a wine bar, their food menu is what makes this bar so well rounded. Their kitchen boasts a wine friendly, Spanish fusion tapas style menu with an Australian twist. Pairing this menu with a sizeable and well curated wine menu, as well as a warm lively atmosphere, is a recipe for success.

Other notable mentions in the area include Shui, a contemporary Asian restaurant and Intuition Wine & Kitchen and their modern Mediterranean cuisine with a touch of French flair.

Shopping Centres – Karrinyup Shopping Centre

The redevelopment of Karrinyup Shopping Centre, completed in 2021, saw the centre become a foodie precinct. The new and improved shopping centre acts as a host to many different dining options, and as a result has become a foodie destination in itself. Rather than only providing food to their shoppers, people are visiting the shopping centre just for food. With fantastic eateries such as Authentic Bites Dumpling House, Good Company, Little Laika, and Sushia Izakaya, Karrinyup Shopping Centre has such a vast variety of food. They have also kept the tried and true shopping centre suspects such as Grill’d, Pretzel, San Churro, and Roll’d.

The centre has aimed to offer a variety of dining options both in terms of cuisine and price, ensuring to cater to all and has become a great place for a quick bite or a nice meal out.

Lesser Known – Doubleview

Doubleview is an up and coming food precinct that we’re keeping our eye on. With fantastic venues continuing to open up, primarily on Scarborough Beach Road, we can be certain that this precinct is in its beginning stages and is sure to continue to grow in the coming years.

Corner Dairy has become a staple in the community, with a coffee/ cafe window in the morning, and a bar open in the evening. The crew at Corner Dairy are aiming to foster a sense of community through fulfilling the role of being their neighbourhoods ‘local’. Their casual, modern vibe fits nicely with their beach suburb postcode.

The area has an array of amazing venues growing in popularity such as St Brigid Bar, Pizzaca Pizzeria & Bar, and one of our own clients, Jalisco. With more small venues with amazing food set to open up in the area, Doubleviews’ popularity is sure to grow.

For anyone who is thinking of entering into the hospitality industry, or extending their brand into a new suburb, make sure you give serious thought into what sort of suburb suits you most. Every food and beverage precinct has it’s rhyme or reason – and there’s ways to appreciate them all.  If you’re ever needing to have a chat and seek some advice – please do not hesitate to call through!
